Hi Friends! This is my first topic on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. They are two interesting topics these days and often seem to be used interchangeably . I would prefer ML as gateway of AI.
Though they are not quite the same thing, but the perception that they are can sometimes lead to some confusion. So I thought it would be worth writing a piece to explain the difference.
Artificial Intelligence is the broader concept of machines being able to carry out tasks in a way that we would consider βsmartβ and “interactive”.
Machine Learning is the preliminary application of AI based on the idea that we should really just be able to give machines access to data and let them learn for themselves just like child learn.
Machine Learning as the vehicle which is driving AI development forward to future advance era.
The primary goal of ML is to allow the computers learn automatically without human intervention or assistance.
Now let’s enter into the ML room π
Well, Machine learning algorithms are often categorized as supervised or unsupervised.
Supervised machine learning algorithms can apply what has been learned in the past to new data using labeled examples to predict future events.
Unsupervised machine learning algorithms are used when the information used to train is neither classified nor labeled.
There are few more category of ML which I shall discuss later.
In my next topic , I shall discuss on the most used category that is supervised algorithm .
So stay tuned..!
Interesting article. Technology is evolving at a very fast pace.
Thanks Shoumik :).
Nicely written. Would love to read and learn more.
Thanks David. Please follow my blog here and I shall try to write in understandable and nontechnical way as much as I can. I want that people should be interested in this field first before jump into technical terms . π
Sure. Will do.
Great article.
